Self-Efficacy Beliefs and Performance of Pre-Service Economics Teachers: Implications for Teacher Training

Good teaching is crucial for implementing the school curriculum and taken seriously by teacher training institutions. Pre-service teachers of various colleges education are through multiple assessment strategies to obtain information improving curricula achieve aim quality effective implementation. One ways sourcing fine-tuning pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs. Sourcing on beliefs helps determine their readiness implement after training. This study aimed assess economics at University Cape Coast using a model as framework. All 77 final-year were included in study. A questionnaire measuring used collect data. Data analysed thematic analysis, descriptive inferential statistics. The study’s key findings that highly self-efficacious economics; male had higher belief than female counterparts; there was weak, insignificant positive relationship between performance off-campus practice. It recommended should be encouraged more lecturers help them improve senior high economics.
